Manipur’s COVID-19 related fatality toll rose to 289 as the state reported deaths of eight more patients.

A press release of the COVID-19 Common Control Room of the state government saw the deaths of eight patients in the past 24 hours. 

After the biggest single-day deaths of 10 COVID-19 related patients on Sunday, this is the second time in which eight deaths have been reported in a day in the state. The control room had reported eight deaths on Monday, too.

Two of the eight deaths were women, as per the press release.

Meanwhile,  the overall COVID-19 infections tally rose to 25,243 in Manipur with 198 more persons diagnosed with the disease. The new cases included 42 Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel.

The new cases were detected during testing of 2,693 samples in the past 24 hours. In the state, a total of 4,23,035 samples have been tested for the contagion.
The overall infection tally included 21,718 recovered cases. The state reported 152 recoveries during the past 24 hours, as per the daily update report.

Of the 3,236 active cases currently being treated in various Covid care centres, 337 of them were CAPF personnel. The recovery rate of the state is 86.03%.
