Elderly man killed in hit-and-run in Moreh

Moreh, Jan 23: An elderly man died in a hit-and-run incident at Moreh town early morning Monday.

The decease is identified as Lhunsei Baite of Canan Veng, Moreh, father of Dr Seijang Baite, Prof Moreh College.

According to source, the deceased went out for a morning walk but was later found seriously injured near David Carpentry in Moreh town, around 5 am. Lhunsei Baite was rushed to Moreh hospital. However, he succumbed to his injuries.

The Hill Tribal Council strongly denounced the inhuman act of hit-and-run and asked the culprit(s) to surrender to HTC at the earliest.

The HTC said that it will investigate the incident and initiate strong action if and when the culprit is caught. “Anyone with any information about the incident are requested to inform HTC. Identity of the person who provide information will be kept confidential,” informed HTC.
