The European Manipuri Association (EMA) held its 24th annual Ningol Chakouba celebration on October 25 at Clevering Village Hall in Essex, drawing more than 160 Manipuris from across the UK and Europe.
Ningol Chakouba, a festival that highlights the bond between brothers and sisters, remains one of the most important cultural events for the community. The gathering, which EMA has been organising in the UK for 24 years, was filled with the familiar mix of family warmth, cultural pride and a sense of belonging for many living abroad.

Attendees—men, women and children—came dressed in traditional Manipuri wear. Cultural performances, music and dance marked the day, which ended with a traditional Manipur feast that offered many a welcome reminder of home.
This year, communities from both Manipur and Nagaland joined the celebration, adding to the event’s diversity and reinforcing the inclusive nature of the diaspora groups that participate each year.
EMA thanked all volunteers, families and community members for their support in making the event a success.
