Expired Food Items Seized, Disposed in Manipur’s Tamenglong

Ukhrul, June 5: Officials of the Small-Town Committee, Autonomous District Council (ADC), Tamenglong (Manipur) on Thursday disposed expired food items which were confiscated from different shops at the district headquarters. The committee conducted a drive on Wednesday and found many shops selling expired food items.

According to official sources, the confiscated expired commodities were disposed by the Small-Town Committee officials on Thursday in the presence of Kachamthai Faiga Gangmei, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), ADC, Tamenglong and Ningthungpou R Panmei, Executive Officer, STC, ADC, Tamenglong.

Disposing the expired commodities, Kachamthai Faiga Gangmei, CEO, ADC, Tamenglong expressed his grave concern on the health hazard it can cause to the kids and general public on consumption of such expired products and encouraged the committee to conduct such drives from time-to-time in the coming days.

Meanwhile, the Small-Town Committee, ADC Tamenglong appealed to the general public to stay vigilant and check for expiry dates before purchasing any goods without fail.
