Chandel, July 12: Following a drive against expired goods in Chakpikarong Bazaar on Saturday led by Anal Lenruwl Tangpi (ALT), Chakpikarong Branch, outdated or expired goods worth Rs 50,000 were seized from various shops and the same disposed of.
Led by ALT, Chakpikarong Branch, a drive was carried out in the Chakpikarong Bazaar area under Chandel district to check if any outdated or expired goods were being sold. During the drive, expired goods worth Rs 50,000 were seized from various shops and later disposed of.

Hl. Michael, General Secretary of ALT, Chakpikarong Branch, informed that this drive was important as they had received some reports about expired goods being sold. “So, we carried out the drive and, true to the reports, we seized expired goods worth Rs 50,000,” Michael informed.
Various youth clubs from in and around the Chakpikarong area also took part in the drive. They are from Toupokpi, Dangkhu, Tampi, Kh/Khullen, Thormcham, Charongching, Analkhunou, Chakpikarong, Kh/Novokom, Rungchang, P. Khudam – ALT Executive, and Salluk – ALT Executive Members. The members of the Chakpikarong Bazaar Board also took part in the drive.

While appreciating those involved in the drive against expired goods, the ALT Chakpikarong Branch warned that severe action would be taken against those shops selling expired goods in the future.
“This is a very dangerous practice as expired products can adversely affect one’s health,” said Hl. Michael. “We’ll see to it that such is not repeated,” he added, warning of stringent action against the culprits.
