The fashion designer, identified as Laishram Kumarjit, 30, was shot in the left calf as a warning by the Koireng-led UNLF (United National Liberation Front) due to his direct involvement in illicit activities in the state.

A resident of Takyel Khongba Maning Leikai in Imphal West, Kumarjit was first presented to the media by the outfit, where he allegedly admitted to the charges in a viral video.

Kumarjit was later found near Khumbong PHC under Patsoi police station in Bishnupur district with a bullet wound in his left calf around 8:40 AM. He was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

A case has been registered to arrest those involved in the gun attack.

According to the Koireng-led UNLF group, Laishram Kumarjit was punished for his alleged involvement in the unethical business of supplying girls to high-profile clients in the state, tarnishing the image of Manipuri culture and society. Kumarjit, who also runs a salon, reportedly confessed to his involvement in the sex racket and provided information about several high-end customers.
