IMPHAL/UKHRUL: People across Imphal on Friday evening took part in a collective sound protest by beating drums, ringing bells and striking electric poles and other objects to produce loud sounds, responding to a call given by the Federation of Haomee to raise a united voice over the prevailing situation in Manipur.
The protest was held from 7:30 pm to 8 pm, with people from different localities joining the demonstration by using various sound-producing items to draw the attention of the Central Government to the concerns of the people of Manipur.
Speaking to the media, Federation of Haomee leader Heera Kabui said the people must come together and raise a collective voice on issues affecting the state. He appealed to people across Manipur to participate in the protest and send a strong message to the Central Government that the concerns of the people cannot be ignored.

As part of the initiative, the Federation organised a programme at Sawombung Kabui Khunjao, where participants raised the traditional Kabui community call known as Khoang. The gathering also used the village call Pung-Jao to mobilise people and express their collective concerns.
Heera Kabui said the voices raised by the people had so far failed to receive an adequate response from the Central and state governments. He stressed the need for a united stand to protect the interests of Manipur and its indigenous communities.
He questioned how many more lives would have to be lost before the governments took the concerns of the people seriously. He also expressed concern over the safety of young people amid the prevailing situation and questioned the effectiveness of the measures being taken to protect civilians.
The Federation of Haomee further called upon the 25 indigenous communities of Manipur to stand united and raise a collective voice against the Central Government, stressing the importance of unity in addressing the issues confronting the state.
The sound protest witnessed participation from different localities, with people using drums, bells, electric poles and other objects to make their voices heard during the designated period.
The Federation said collective public participation was essential to convey the people’s concerns to the authorities and press for a response to the prevailing situation in Manipur.
