Five including two VDF held with 3.69 kg of brown sugar in Manipur

Senapati: Two personnel of the VDF (Village Defense Force) were among five persons arrested by the police in Senapati district of Manipur along with 3.69kg of brown sugar.

A police source said that on Tuesday, Senapati district police seized 3.69 kg of suspected brown sugar packed in 79 soap cases during an operation near Maram Centre under Maram police station of the district.

Among the arrested persons, two were VDF personnel posted in Senapati district and three were from Assam.

The VDF personnel were identified as Mohan Kumar and H Solomon (32).

The other three apprehended persons from Assam were Lalpu Singsit, Haogin Lhangum and Robert Lenthan. They are reportedly from Karbi Anglong district.

The police detained them after the contraband drugs were found in a Tata Safari car, they were traveling in, the police said.
