Forest Minister Awangbow Newmai takes stock of Covid-19 situation in Noney

To assess the Covid-19 condition in Noney District, Forest, Environment & Climate Change Minister Awangbow Newmai visited Noney district on Friday.

A meeting was convened at the premises of COVID Care Centre, Tengkongjang Hr Secondary School, Longmai part-3, Noney with Deputy Commissioner, Noney, Robert Singh Kshetrimayum along with Dr. Edwin Golmei CMO Noney, Dr. Jendum Golmei DIO Noney, Dr. Azin Maringmei, DLO, Dr. Thaimei Gairanlung, DSO and leaders of CSO and other Health Department staffs.

The minister also visited Noney PHC and Haochong PHC and encouraged COVID warriors and interacted with them regarding their hardships and grievances. During his visit the minister handed over 5 sets of Oxygen Concentrators and 3 sets of D-Type Oxygen Cylinder, face masks, hand gloves, hand sanitizers, pulse oximeter, N95 masks etc. The minister also extended financial assistance for the front line COVID warriors and local volunteers of COVID management committee.

Speaking in the sideline of his visit, the minister conveyed his gratitude to the front line COVID warriors for their tireless efforts during this critical time inspite of limited staffs. The minister assured the district administrator and District Task Force that every possible help from the government will be extended in due consultation with the Chief Minister.

Regarding the shortage of manpower specially posting of doctors and other medical staffs in Noney District, the government will look into matter and adequate posting of staff would be shorted out and preference would be given for the local man during the recruitment . He appeals to general public to maintain strict SOPs and get vaccinated without fail. He also urged the front line workers and village task force to conduct frequent intensive awareness program about the pandemic. The minister appealed the CSOs to continue their support in combating the dreaded disease and discouraged unsubstantiated rumours in the society. The minister also appealed to every HCWs and FLWs to go the extra miles beyond their duty assigned as a role model in serving the people. He also appealed the general public to have a heart of patient and helping hands during this health emergency.

In his visit, the minister accompanied Namsinrei Panmei, Acting Chairman, ADC Tamenglong and other former ADC members.

Meanwhile, Haochong village authority expressed thankfulness to Minister Awangbow Newmai for visiting Haochong Sub-Divisional and overseeing the Covid-19 pandemic in the district.
