Ukhrul, April 30: In a major drug bust, the Government Railway Police (GRP) at Guwahati Railway Station seized over 65 kilograms of suspected cannabis (ganja) from four individuals traveling on the New Delhi-bound Rajdhani Express on Tuesday.
As per officials, acting on a tip-off, the GRP team conducted a thorough check on Train No. 12423 DN (New Delhi Rajdhani Express) after it arrived at Platform No. 1 of Guwahati station. During the inspection, officers recovered 44 packets of suspected cannabis weighing a total of 65.5 kilograms from the possession of the accused.
The four individuals had reportedly boarded the train from Dimapur Railway Station en route to New Delhi. All of them were taken into custody on the spot, and legal proceedings have been initiated under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

The arrested individuals have been identified Nongthombam Landson Singh (22), son of Nongthombam Joyshankar Singh, resident of Wankhei Yumlembam Leikei Brahmpur Aribam, Porompat, Imphal East, Manipur; Raireikhan Tungshang (25), son of the late Mingthing Tungshang, from Langdang village, Ukhrul district, Manipur; James Kamei (25), son of Munal Kamei, resident of Namdulong, Porompat, Imphal East, Manipur; Pukhrambam Kanta Singh (24), son of the late Pukhrambam Sanjit Singh, from Waheng Khumar Mayai Leikai, Wangoi, Bishnupur district, Manipur.
Authorities also added that necessary legal actions have already been initiated.
