Galacticos FC Clinch Victory in Thrilling 35th Chakre Chovow Chithuni Tournament!

Senapati: Galacticos Football Club (GFC) emerged victorious in the thrilling final of the 35th Chakre Chovow Chithuni Football Tournament by defeating Emerald Football Club (EFC) by a narrow 1-0 margin. The tournament, organized by the Song Song Youth and Students Organisation (SSYSO) and sponsored by Striven Football Club, concluded with a grand valedictory program at the Okhro-Ikhro Ground, Mao Gate. This year’s event also celebrated the 25th anniversary of Striven Football Club.

The tournament, which saw the participation of 16 teams, witnessed a vibrant cultural display, including traditional music and dance performances, showcasing the rich heritage of the society. N. Kaikho Kapa, Joint Director (Retd.), Tribal Affairs & Hills, Govt. of Manipur, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. “Sports have the power to unite people and foster peace, I encourage the society to continue using this platform to build stronger bonds with their neighbours,” said Kapa.

Besides the main football matches, the tournament featured a Women’s Penalty Shoot-out won by Emerald Girls Football Club and an Above-45 (Veterans) Men’s Penalty Shoot-out won by Chovow United Football Club.

Galacticos FC were awarded the championship title, along with a cash prize of Rs. 35,000, trophy, and medals. Emerald Stars FC received Rs. 20,000, trophy, and medals as runners-up. Individual awards were also presented for Best Discipline, Golden Ball, Golden Boot, Golden Glove, Best Defender, Man of the Match, and Emerging Player of the Tournament.
