GNF Decries Vile Facebook Post Threatening Prof. Rosemary Dzüvichü

Ukhrul, September 24: The Global Naga Forum (GNF) issued a strong condemnation on Tuesday after a Facebook post containing a death threat and abusive language was directed at Prof. Rosemary Dzüvichü, a noted academic and women’s rights advocate who also serves as Co-Convenor of the forum.

The post, made on September 23 in the Facebook group Unified Naga Land for Christ by a user identified as WJ Longkumer, drew outrage for what the GNF described as a “vile, violent, and cowardly” attack.

“To openly issue death threats and spew such vulgar abuse, especially against women, is not only criminal but represents a shocking level of moral decay,” GNF said in its statement, and added, “No threat, no bullet, and no hate-filled word can silence the voice of truth, justice, and women’s dignity.”

GNF framed the attack as not just personal but collective, declaring that it amounted to an assault on “every mother, sister, and daughter of our land.” It expressed its “unwavering solidarity” with Prof. Dzüvichü, who has been a leading voice on gender justice and peace in Naga society.

The statement also raised alarm over Longkumer’s alleged claim, in another Facebook group, of being affiliated with the civil wing of the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (Isak-Muivah), or NSCN-IM. The forum urged authorities to investigate the claim and clarify its authenticity.

Calling the incident “deeply disturbing,” the GNF demanded that law enforcement act swiftly against the individual. “Hate speech, death threats, and misogynistic vulgarity must never be normalised or tolerated in our society,” the GNF said.
