Group Captain Varun Singh, the lone survivor of chopper crash of Dec 8 succumbs to injuries

The Indian Air Force has confirmed the death of Group Captain Varun Singh, the lone survivor of the IAF Mi-17V5 helicopter crash on December 8 near Coonoor in Tamil Nadu carrying 14 passengers, including CDS, General Bipin Rawat and his wife.

IAF in a tweet at 12:40 pm today confirmed his demise.

Upon hearing the news of Varun Singh’s demise, prime minister Narendra Modi took to twitter and said, “Group Captain Varun Singh served the nation with pride, valour and utmost professionalism. I am extremely anguished by his passing away. His rich service to the nation will never be forgotten. Condolences to his family and friends. Om Shanti”.
