Guru Rewben Mashnagva to Hold Two-Day Musical Clinic from October 5-6

A two-day musical clinic will be organized at Nagaram community hall, Imphal on October 5 to 6 under the theme, Calling from the past; Tingteila (folk fiddle) and Yangkahui (Bamboo flute 4 hole, 3 feet long and six hole).

The program will be facilitated by Awo Ningmaso, Tingteila and folk instrument maker; Guru Rawung, Traditional Bamboo Trumpet and Tingteila, Ajit Khuman, Flute six holes and Padma Shri Guru Rewben Mashangva, Hao music exponent.

IK Muivah, IPS, IG Adm. govt. of Manipur will be present as the guest, and the invitees are Michael Shaiza, BJP Leader cum President ERA, Dr Jubilee Shangrei Asst Professor, Center for Political Studies, School of Social Science JNU New Delhi, Mingyao Ruivanao 1st class contractor, Elias Howmai Maram Special class contractor, Soron Ramung, Ramung Enterprise, Yirei Shangrei, Social Activist and Shimreiyo Muinao, Social worker.

Guru Rewben Mashangva mentioned in the program, “There are different kinds of traditional folk instruments used on different occasions. Our culture and lifestyle has undergone tremendous change in recent times. The way we sing and the instruments we used to express those songs have also changed.”

“With these, many of our folk songs and instruments have disappeared with passage of time. So to revive and refurbish these priceless legacies, I, Guru Rewben Mashangva is organizing two day musical clinic workshop/seminar with patronage of some benevolent well wishers,” wrote Guru.


Michael Shaiza also informed, “15 talented and potential musicians are selected from Ukhrul and Kamjong districts to be groomed in the two-day musical clinic and they will perform on the last day in the presence of the guest and the invitees”.
