HAC Emergency Meeting Adopts Two Resolutions: Terms Sep 1 order ‘Unconstitutional’

The emergency meeting called by Hill Areas Committee Chairman, at the chamber of Oja Leishiyo Keishing with all Hill Areas Committee members was held today at 11:00 am.

The emergency meeting discussed the current political situation as a direct result of the induction of 9 unreserved Assembly Segments into the Hill Areas Committee.

Two resolutions have been adopted unanimously in the all Hill Areas Committee emergency meeting.

  1. The recent order issued by the Manipur Legislative Assembly Secretariat on September 1, 2021 appointing additional members from the Unscheduled Areas other than what is specified in the First Schedule of the Presidential order of 1972 is unconstitutional and thus must be rescinded immediately as demanded by Constitutional mandate and in the ends of justice.
  2. That a representation in the form of memorandum be submitted to the authorities concerned at the earliest to highlight and address the issues concerning the Hill Areas Committee (HAC) for redressal.
