Agartala, Aug 12: From the capital to the border towns, Tripura on Tuesday came alive with the Har Ghar Tiranga spirit as citizens, students, and officials marched in unison, celebrating the approach of the 79th Independence Day.
In Agartala, Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha flagged off the 2025 Har Ghar Tiranga Rally from the Ujjayanta Palace premises, urging all residents to participate in the campaign. “The national flag is the pride of the nation and a symbol of patriotism and national spirit. Every citizen has a duty to uphold its honour,” the Chief Minister said.
Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2022 as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the campaign is being observed nationwide from August 2 to 15 in three phases. The first phase (August 2–8) includes school wall paintings, rakhi-making contests, rallies, exhibitions, quizzes, blood donation camps, art competitions, health camps, and sports events. The second phase (August 9–12) features the Tiranga Fair and Concert, while the third phase (August 13–15) will culminate in statewide flag hoisting.
Tuesday’s Agartala rally concluded at Rabindra Bhavan, where the Chief Minister inaugurated the Tiranga Fair and attended the Tiranga Concert at the Rabindra Centenary Hall. Also present were Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Tinku Roy, Fisheries Minister Sudhangshu Das, AMC Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumdar, West Tripura Zilla Parishad Acting President Biswajit Shil, AMC Deputy Mayor Monika Das Dutta, and senior officials.

In Belonia, the South Tripura District Administration organised a seminar at Ishwarchandra Vidyasagar College titled ‘Azadi Udaan Laksh Ki Ore’. District Magistrate Md. Sajjad P, alongside educationists and civil service achievers, advised students on competitive exam preparation and career building, and discussed the district’s ‘Jagrat’ initiative against drug abuse, school dropouts, child marriage, and social media addiction.
Kailashahar saw a colourful rally with a 100-metre-long national flag, organised by the Unakoti District Administration and the Indian Ex-Servicemen’s Kailashahar branch. Students, NCC and NSS volunteers, and ex-servicemen joined the march, which began and ended at Unakoti Kalakshetra.
In Teliamura, a grand rally organised by the Sub-Division Administration started from Chitrangada Kala Kendra and toured the town, calling on every household, school, office, and institution to hoist the national flag on August 15.
Kamalpur Nagar Panchayat hosted a rally with school students, followed by a cultural programme inaugurated by MLA Manoj Kanti Deb at the Town Hall. Local cultural groups performed patriotic songs and dances.
In Sonamura, the Sub-Division Administration and Nagar Panchayat jointly organised a student rally from the Nagar Panchayat office premises through the main streets.
Across Tripura, the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign is set to continue with more rallies, fairs, and public outreach programmes leading up to Independence Day.
