UKHRUL: Kengoo Zuringla, secretary of Science and Technology, Government of Manipur, on Thursday officially launched HAU (Harmony Athletes in Unity) Wung Sports Management during a programme held at The Venue by Elle’s at Luwangsangbam, Imphal.

The initiative aims to bring talent identification, event management, consultation programmes and sports governance onto a single platform, while promoting sporting excellence and creating a sustainable ecosystem for athletes.

Speaking as the chief guest, Zuringla lauded the young team for stepping out of their comfort zone to nurture emerging talent. She expressed hope that the initiative would have a significant impact on society.

She appealed to the team to work with a clear vision, commitment and motivation, noting that without these core values, discouragement may arise when challenges are encountered along the journey.

Highlighting that many parents do not yet view sports as a viable professional career, Zuringla said the team would have to work hard with sincerity. “Once parents realise the integrity and dedication of the team, they will slowly come forward and encourage their children to pursue sports,” she added.

While wishing the team success in its endeavour, she urged them to maintain transparency and accountability within the organisation to ensure long-term stability.

“Start small with a big vision,” she remarked.

Ninglum Zimik, founder and president of the HAU Wung Sports Foundation, said the organisation is primarily focused on athletes from diverse and underserved areas who lack opportunities and platforms to nurture their potential.

“We aim to identify talent through scouting and talent hunts, and provide our best services by connecting athletes with academies and organisations for sponsorship,” he said.

“Our vision is to become a leading organisation that nurtures sports talent, promotes sporting excellence, and creates a sustainable ecosystem for athletes, events and sports management,” Zimik added.

The foundation also plans to provide sports psychology and sports nutrition support to enhance athletes’ mental strength, emotional balance and overall well-being.

The foundation members include Longreiyo Varam as co-founder and managing director, Worleichan A Shimray as sports analytics and sports development, RR Longsang as public/talent management and Oimps Lunghar as accounts and events management.

The event was attended by RS Jollyson, vice-president of the Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL); Thingreiphy Lungharwoshi, president of the Tangkhul Shanao Long (TSL); along with religious leaders, students, sportspersons, friends and family members.
