Helicopter Service Imphal-Ukhrul to Operationalize Soon

Ukhrul: In a major boost of development, new helicopter service Imphal- Ukhrul – Imphal route under the present MHA Helicopter subsidy scheme in the State will be operationalize soon.

Speaking to this correspondent, Khashim Vashum, Minister Animal Husbandry & Veterinary and Transport, Manipur informed that “the Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs, NE Division on Thursday has conveyed necessary approval from the competent authority for operationalization/introduction of a new Helicopter service route from Imphal-Ukhrul-Imphal under the existing helicopter subsidy scheme”.

The Government of Manipur on 9 February had written to the MHA for the introduction of the new helicopter service route, accordingly, the MHA had approved the same on 22 February 2024.

President of Tangkhul Mayar Ngala Long (TMNL), Themmaso Tallanao expressed immense gratitude to MHA and Government of Manipur for the much needed development. He also expressed sincere gratitude to Minister Khashim Vashum for tirelessly working day in and day out for the welfare of the people and for making this project a success. “The helicopter services route between Imphal-Ukhrul will definitely help to boost connectivity and make travel between these destinations much easier and shorter” added Themmaso Tallanao.

The detail of daily service availability, the fare rate and helipad will be announced soon in the coming days. With the operationalization of this new route, it will just take 35 minutes to travel from Imphal to Ukhrul and vice versa.
