Imphal: The Manipur government on Sunday ordered extension of the closure of the educational institutions across the state till June 4.
Following the devastating flash flood that caused widespread destruction, the Manipur government had earlier declared holiday for the educational institutions till May 31.

Separate orders issued today by the Education (School) department and the Higher and Technical Education department said the holiday is extended till June 4.
The order issued by the Education (School) department said that the state government has ordered the closure of schools (government, government aided, private and central) along with all the activities related with the admission process at schools till June 4 in view of the widespread destruction and inconveniences caused to many households and installations across the state due to incessant rain and floods that followed.

All higher education institutions of the state government, government aided and private educational institutions shall continue to remain closed till June 4 as the number of houses and roads are still flooded and even the houses where water has receded are yet to be habitable, the order of the Higher and Technical Education department stated.
