Hornbill Festival 2021 likely to Kick Start, Given Covid-19 stays below 5%

Kohima: Nagaland state government has expressed its intend to organise Hornbill Festival 2021, if the Covid-19 situation continues to remain under control with a positive rate below 5%.

This was announced during a review meeting of the High Powered Committee (HPC) on Covid-19 which was held under the chairmanship of the chief minister, Neiphiu Rio on September 13, a DIPR report stated.

The report further stated that HPC on Covid-19 discussed the likelihood of activities to be undertaken with full adherence to Covid-19 protocols.

It may be mentioned that, travel to Nagaland for tourism is already allowed for those who have been fully vaccinated. Pre-bookings in hotels and other facilities may be done by interested tourists.

In order to kick start the preparatory activities, an inter-departmental meeting will be held with the Department of Tourism and the Department of Art & Culture on the 23rd September 2021, DIPR report stated.
