Imphal: A combined security team comprising of Imphal East commandos and personnel of Border Security Force (BSF), 16 and 18 Assam Rifles conducted combing operations at Leitanpokpi Top in Imphal East district today.
The raid was carried out from 9 am to 2:30 pm. The combined team recovered various arms and ammunition including four SLR, two Insas Rifles, two 9mm Carbine, one AK-47 and Four 3-0-3 rifles during the operation, with no report of arrest. A new security post that could accommodate 50 security personnel was also opened at Leitanpokpi Top.

Singnificantly, the Army and Assam Rifles along with Manipur Police and CAPFs also commenced Area Domination Operations in the hills and valley area across the state of Manipur on Saturday, according to PRO Defence Kohima and Imphal.
Security forces used Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and Quadcopters in the operations which resulted in recovery of 40 weapons (mostly automatics), mortars, ammunition and other warlike stores so far. During the conduct of these operations, adequate measures were undertaken to ensure that the locals are not harassed and personal safety and security is maintained, said the army in a press release.

“Following the directions received during the visit of Hon’ble Union Home Minister, Security Forces have once again appealed to the people, in possession of snatched weapons, to surrender the weapons at the earliest for ensuring peace and stability in the state. Security Forces also warned that failure to surrender these weapons will make all such people liable for strict legal action,” the release further added.
