Imnainla Jamir honoured with H.E.R Award

NAGALAND’S sensational guitarist who shot to fame after she belted the Indian national anthem on her electric guitar during the Hornbill Festival 2022 has been honoured with the H.E.R Award at the 6th edition of ‘We The Women Festival’ held on March 4 in Jaipur.

The 21-year-old Imnainla Jamir received the award from Burkha Dutt, senior journalist and author and founder of digital news channel Mojo Story.

Imnainla Jamir, received the award with her guitar strapped to her shoulder, the inseparable avatar of the young guitarist icon, people have come to acquaintance with. Barkha asked, “are you going to receive the award with the guitar?” and she absolutely did just that at the award’s ceremony.

Imnainla Jamir took to twitter and thanked Barkha Dutt and We The Women Asia, a forum to create a community and space for unfettered freedom, curated by Barkha Dutt herself.

Task Force for Music & Arts (TaFMA), a Nagaland’s government initiative to promote talents in arts and music sector took to twitter and congratulated Imnainla Jamir on the backdrop of her receiving the prestigious award.

Such was Imnainla Jamir’s unique rendition of the Indian national anthem that business giants like Anand Mahindra, Chairman Mahindra Group couldn’t hold his admiration about Nagaland state’s Hornbill Festival in general, at the centre of the state’s soft politics initiative.

“This clip is proof of just how Incredible India is,” Anand Mahindra had tweeted.
