Imphal Naga Forum Holds Interfaith Advent Christmas

UKHRUL: Imphal Naga Forum (INF) held an interfaith advent Christmas and preparatory prayer meeting of leaders from the Meitei, Thadou and Naga communities for the early return of peace and stability in Manipur at the Diamond Jubilee Park, Adimjati Shiksha Ashram, Imphal on Sunday.

The get-together was attended by the leaders of Taragi Cheishu, COCOMI, AMESCO, Ima Keithel Marup, Roadside Vendor Welfare Association Khwairamband Ema Keithel, Eramdam Kanba Lup, Emagi Meira Lup and the official representatives of FNCC. The solemn occasion was also attended by TPOI president, TNBC general secretary and president, Rongmei Naga People’s Organization (RNPO), Manipur, Assam and Nagaland.

The grand event was conspicuous by the presence ofLamjathang Michael Haokip, a top Thadou leader and state BJP spokesperson and the former UNC president.

Gloria, a renowned Gospel artist enthralled the audience with her beautiful and melodious hit songs.

Imphal Naga Forum (INF) convenor Ambition Anth read out the welcome note by giving out the Christmas gifts to the invitees.

Christmas greetings were brought by Reverend Khayaipam Khamrang, Pastor, Tangkhul Baptist Church, Imphal where he dwelt on the significance of forgiveness in this Christmas season.

Wishing a merry and joyous Christmas and Happy New Year to all the peace loving people of Manipur, the INF stated that the gathering is not a celebration of victory or joy but a shared moment of reflection, prayer and hope.  

“It is to give comfort to the grieving and give hope to the displaced people. It is to remind ourselves of our shared humanity beyond ethnic and communal lines,” the INF stated.
