Imphal Naga Forum Provides Relief Items to Flood and Hailstorm Victims

Ukhrul: The Imphal Naga Forum in a press release Wednesday said it reached out to victims of the natural disasters, distributing relief items such as mattresses, tarpaulins, and children’s clothes in the spirit of camaraderie, love and solidarity with the less fortunate people of the state.

INF said, “Ambition Anth, Convenor of INF along with his trusted colleagues, worked tirelessly to arrange and distribute relief materials to the affected people. Motivated by a biblical passage from the Old Testament, the functionaries of the Imphal Naga Forum donated 300 mattresses, 40 tarpaulins, and 50 packs of children’s clothes to victims of the recent hailstorms, floods, and ethnic conflicts. The people of Manipur have faced severe hardships due to natural disasters, with hailstorms and flash floods destroying rooftops, standing crops, paddy fields, and thousands of residential homes, disrupting lives significantly.”

“Speaking to reporters at the office of the Imphal Naga Forum, Ambition Anth Thangal expressed deep concern for the plight, difficulties, inconveniences, and sufferings of the people in the state, who have had to endure conditions resembling a civil war,” the press released said.

The Imphal Naga Forum, a body of Naga intellectuals, social activists, and university faculty members, was established on June 6, 2023, to address and mitigate the apprehensions, inconveniences, and sense of insecurity among the Nagas in the Imphal valley following the outbreak of large-scale violence between the majority Meiteis and the Kuki-Zo people.

The Forum said, it has held various interactive meetings with their valley-based counterparts and civil bodies to end the ongoing ethnic conflicts and restore peace and prosperity in the troubled state of Manipur.
