IMPHAL, Aug 27: Petrol woes in Imphal have been minimised to a certain extent as many filling stations in the state capital have started giving petrol to the general public since today.

As announced by the CAF & PD Minister L Susindro on Monday, many oil pumps in Imphal and Greater Imphal gave petrol to the public under the tight vigil of the department’s officials and police personnel to prevent occurrence of unwanted incidents. People lined up in multiple queues at the front of the filling stations where petrol was sold since early morning.

A CAF & PD official who came to Jas Gas Station, Uripok, informed that MS Petrol and HSS Diesel have been distributed to most filling stations in the state. He added that the department is making efforts to prevent hoarding of petrol.

Some of the oil pumps which sold petrol today include Jas Gas Station, Uripok, PCTC, Khuyathong and Bakliwal Enterprise, North AOC. Mention may be made that valley districts, particularly the Imphal West district and Imphal East district, have been reeling under shortage of petrol as many filling stations have either remained shut or claiming that petrol has run out of stock.
