NEW DELHI (SHABD): India’s Sarvesh Kushare and Ancy Sojan settled for silver medals in the men’s high jump and women’s long jump finals, respectively, at the Asian Games 2026 in Nagoya City, Japan.
After leading for a good part of the competition, Sarvesh slipped to second position after failing to clear 2.25m on his first attempt.
India’s Ancy Sojan also led for a major part of the competition before settling for the silver medal in the women’s long jump.
Ancy recorded a best jump of 6.53m to finish behind Huang Yingying of China, who claimed the gold medal.

Indian athlete Parul Chaudhary bagged a bronze medal in the women’s 3,000-metre steeplechase. Chaudhary clocked a personal best to finish third on the podium.
Indian track and field athlete Tejaswin Shankar claimed the bronze medal in the men’s decathlon after winning the 1,500-metre race.
India’s Harita Bhadra clinched the bronze medal in the women’s 200-metre race.
With the latest medals, India’s tally has risen to 39, including four gold, 17 silver and 18 bronze medals.
