Ukhrul, April 4: The Indian Army said it, along with the Manipur Police in a joint search operation in the dense jungles of Khamaral Mamang Ching area of Khongampat in Imphal West recovered a substantial cache of arms, ammunition and war-like stores.
The operation, the Indian Army said was launched in the early morning of April 4, based on specific intelligence inputs regarding the presence of a substantial weapons cache in the area.

“The recovered items included one Self-Loading Rifle (SLR) with magazine, one .303 rifle with magazine, one rifle fitted with a telescopic sight and silencer, one .177 rifle, two pistols with empty magazines, two 9mm pistol magazines, three 7.62 mm Light Machine Gun (LMG) magazines, two 5.56 mm INSAS magazines and one 9mm Carbine magazine. In addition to the firearms and magazines, the team also seized cache of war like stores to include six bulletproof jacket plates, three bulletproof jacket harnesses, four helmets, seven camouflage trousers, five camouflage caps, and three camouflage shirts,” said Indian Army press release.
“Actively countering the threat of illegal arms and warlike stores and displaying unwavering commitment to maintain peace and security in the state of Manipur, the Indian Army in close coordination with Manipur Police, conducted a joint search operation,” the Indian Army added.

The press release also said that the “successful recovery by the security forces is a crucial step in preventing anti-national elements from exploiting the volatile security environment in the region. The Indian Army continues to maintain high alert and operational synergy, reaffirming their commitment to uphold peace, security, and the rule of law in the state.”
