UKHRUL: The Indian Army is facilitating the installation of 200 smart solar street lights in the Kumbi area of Bishnupur district under a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative in partnership with an NGO.
The lights will be donated and installed in phases as part of an effort to improve basic infrastructure in remote and underserved communities, the Army said.
The initiative is expected to improve lighting along village roads, pathways and public spaces, helping enhance mobility, safety and accessibility after sunset.

According to the Army, the solar lighting systems are designed for use in challenging field conditions and feature solar technology, intelligent energy management and low-maintenance systems suitable for remote locations.
The project brings together the Indian Army’s community outreach efforts, CSR support and sustainable technology, with the aim of improving living conditions and strengthening basic infrastructure in the area.
The initiative also seeks to provide a sustainable lighting solution by harnessing solar energy in remote communities of Northeast India.
