Churachandpur: Dharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan- India’s largest-ever campaign for tribal empowerment was held at Churachandpur District Headquarters for Churachandpur and Pherzawl districts by State IEC Team under Tribal Research Institute, Department of Tribal Affairs and Hills in association with District Administrations.

The campaign marks a major milestone in the Government of India’s observance of Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh, commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of legendary tribal freedom fighter Birsa Munda. As part of this national initiative, an ambitious Information, Education and Communication (IEC) drive is being carried out to raise awareness and ensure saturation of benefits under two flagship schemes: Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN) and Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DAJGUA). In Manipur alone, over 516 villages across 13 districts covered by the Schemes are set to benefit from these transformative schemes.  The state-level IEC campaign was brought to life through the participation of celebrated figures from Manipur’s tribal community, including: popular musicians Padmashree Rewben Mashangva and James Riamei, award-winning filmmaker Ashok Veilou Pou,  former Miss Manipur and face of the campaign  Phapha Gachui, icon of Churachandpur Florence Vaiphei. Events were held across Kholmun village, Rayburn, Churachandpur College and Camp Office of Deputy Commissioner, Pherzawl.

The outreach program included interactive sessions with students and youths, sensitizing the objectives and benefits under PM-JANMAN and DAJGUA schemes. Participants also took a Pledge to spread awareness of the schemes within their communities. Information pamphlets were also distributed so as to ensure the message reaches every household.

The State IEC Campaign Team is scheduled to continue the Campaign across the districts in the State in the coming days, igniting a movement for tribal empowerment.  The Campaign will culminate on 15th July, 2025.
