Ukhrul: Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization/National Immunization Day was launched on Sunday at the District Hospital Ukhrul, Hungpung by Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul, Kengoo Zuringla.
The launching programme was attended by Dr. Kapangring A Shimray, CMO Ukhrul as guest of honour, Dr. Reisangmi Raikhan, Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Ukhrul, Dr. Pamza Luikham, District Immunization Officer of Ukhrul and others.

Although India is Polio free, it continues to persist in few countries and it may come back. To ensure complete protection of children, the Polio immunization is undertaken to ensure that our country maintains its victory over Polio.
Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul, Kengoo Zuringla launched the pulse Polio immunization today by giving 2 drops of Polio vaccine to all children below 5 years to protect the future generations from Polio.

Kengoo Zuringla in her speech thanked all the health workers for their work and appealed to all the parents to give two drops of Polio vaccine to all children below 5 years to eradicate the disease forever from this world. She appealed to all the health workers to visit every nook and corner of Ukhrul district and also pleaded with the parents to welcome the health workers and give pulse Polio vaccination to their children.
Intensified pulse Polio immunization was also carried out at the Relief Camp of Litan Sareikhong. Health workers were deputed to various places and around 9000 children were vaccinated today. The immunization programme will continue till March 5, 2024, and the health workers will go door to door for pulse polio vaccination.
