JNIMS gets permission to increase MBBS student intake capacity to 150

Imphal: Student intake capacity for MBBS course in the state run Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) in Imphal will be increased to 150 from its present 100.

Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of National Medical Commission (NMC) has granted permission for increasing 50 MBBS seats at JNIMS, Imphal, an official source said on Thursday.

The National Medical Commission (NMC) granted the permission of August 31 in response to JNIMS’s request.

Recently, MARB of NMC had examined the assessor’s reports and reviewed the infrastructure facilities of the college, laboratories, availability of the faculty, their experience etc. at JNIMS for increase of MBBS seats for the academic year 2022-23.

It is pertinent to mention here that the MARB of NMC has also recently approved 100 MBBS seats for Churachandpur Medical College.

Churachandpur Medical College (CMC) is the first medical college to be set up in the hill districts of Manipur.
