JP Nadda takes part in Indian Constitution Day observance in Imphal

JP Nadda expressed his gratitude to the "makers of the Constitution" while reiterating BJP’s commitment to make the nation strong, harmonious and prosperous. He also said that November 26 is observed as Constitution Day or ‘Samvidhan Diwas’ every year to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India.

Imphal: BJP national president Jagat Prakash Nadda said today that India is proud of being the largest democratic country in the globe because of its constitution. He said this while taking part at the observance of Samvidan Diwas (Indian Constitution Day) in Imphal, hosted by BJP Manipur Pradesh.

The state BJP observed the day with a function held at the auditorium of Classic Grande, Imphal. 

Apart from the BJP national president, the observance was also attended by Union cabinet minister Bhupender Yadav, who is also election in-charge of the party for Manipur, party national spokesperson Dr Sambit Patra, state BJP president A Sharda Devi, Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh and cabinet ministers of BJP among others.

Speaking on the occasion, JP Nadda expressed his gratitude to the “makers of the Constitution” while reiterating BJP’s commitment to make the nation strong, harmonious and prosperous. He also said that November 26 is observed as Constitution Day or ‘Samvidhan Diwas’ every year to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India.
 
On November 26, 1949, the Constitution was adopted and it came into effect on January 26, 1950, he reminded while paying tributes to Dr Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar to lead the team that made the “finest Constitution of the globe”.

While asserting that the “constitution makers” had given emphasis on equality while drafting the constitution, Nadda said, “We should ensure that everybody gets equal opportunity.” He also said, “Democracy must be allowed to flourish so that development takes place in the country”. The BJP chief added, “We should not forget Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar for contribution to independent India and the Constitution”.

Attending the occasion, chief minister N Biren Singh expressed his gratitude to the national leaders of the BJP who came here and joined the observation of the day. He also expressed gratitude to the “makers of the Constitution” while calling upon the people of the state to respect and follow the principles of the Constitution.

The BJP national president arrived here in Imphal on Thursday evening on a three-day visit in the poll-bound state of Manipur. He along with other national leaders of the party also attended various government as well as party hosted functions in Imphal and other districts of the state.
