The Chief Minister of Manipur, N Biren Singh has tested positive for COVID-19.
N Biren Singh took to social media today and confirmed of him being COVID-19 Positive. He wrote, (translation) “Friends, since yesterday I’ve been coughing and having headache so I did a COVID test today and I’ve been found positive. I request Those who have been in close contact with me in these few days to test themselves too”, adding “I am fine.”

Sources close to the chief minister said that the chief minister was subjected to COVID-19 test on Sunday after he was feeling a bit unwell.
He was first tested with a rapid antigen kit in the morning. After the result showed positive for the virus, his swab sample was again tested with RT PCR to confirm the result.
The chief minister had attended a series of events in the last few days apart from actively involved in the election campaigns of the BJP candidates in the recently concluded by-polls in four Assembly segments.
The chief minister had also attended the oath taking ceremony of the newly elected MLAs held at the conference hall of the state Assembly complex on November 12.
On the same day, he had attended the launching function of an oil palm project in Manipur besides addressing a press conference at the chief minister’s secretariat among other events.
It can be noted here that since the spread of the pandemic in the state, some MLAs and top officials of the state administration were infected by viral disease.
