Kamjong District observes National Road Safety Week Program with a series of activities

Kamjong: Stretching over the week, the observance of the national road safety week at Kamjong District entered its final lap on 16 February 2024. In the lead-up, the district administration in collaboration with Raizan Katamnao Long (RKL) conducted road safety campaigns at Sub-divisions, and thematic painting competitions for students at the District Headquarters.

The series of events culminated at the Kamjong DHQ Town Hall on 16 February 2024 with Rangnamei Rang Peter, IAS, DC Kamjong as the Chief Guest. The event saw the participation of hundreds of locals and students.

Welcoming the audience, the SDO of Kamjong, Phillip John MCS expressed delight at the response of Kamjong residents to the outreach of the Administration for road safety. Resource persons at the event included the President of RKL Yureipam Shadang, the OC of Chassad PS James A Shimray, and Leishingam Keishing, DRM, IRAD Project. The informative discourse from the resource persons covered various aspects of road safety including traffic rules, do’s and don’ts, and statutory provisions.

In his speech, the Chief Guest of the event applauded participants for their enthusiastic response and enunciated the theme and goal of the observance of National Road Safety Week 2024 and called upon the gathering to further propagate the significance of road safety to all.

DC Kamjong and SDO Kamjong also handed out the prizes of painting competitions for the senior and junior categories of School Children. In the senior category, Ngachanyo Chodang of Compassion Christian High School secured the First Prize, while in the Junior Category, Ringmi Malung of Kamjong Hr. Secondary School walked away with the first prize.

The event concluded with a rally and roadshow covering the stretch from Townhall Kamjong to Chassad PS Gate. During the rally, DC Kamjong and SDO Kamjong interviewed motorists and appealed to all commuters to obey traffic rules and adhere to road safety measures.
