Manipur state government has upgraded nine government High Schools to Higher Secondary Schools from the academic session of 2021-2022.
The decisoin to upgrade was done to increase the number of of Higher secondary schools in the State and provide admission to 47,208 students who were promoted by Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BOSEM), without conducting the class ten board exam due to the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic.
The order issued on August 27 by Education(S) Commissioner M. Harekrishna, the names of the nine high schools are:
Wabagai High School in Kakching District,
Praja High School and Khonghampat High School in Imphal west district,
Urup High School in Imphal East District,
Oinam Government Girls High School and Siribon High School in Bishnupur District,
Kamjong High School in Kamjong District,
Kasom Khullen High School and New Tusom Frontier High School in Ukhrul district.
It may be mentioned that State Education Minister S. Rajen had earlier announced about upgrading Government high schools to Higher Secondary Schools ahead of 2021 academic session.
