BJP Observes International Yoga Day in Ukhrul with Tree Plantation Drive

Ukhrul, June 21: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) observed International Yoga Day in Ukhrul district on Friday, June 21, 2025, with a special program held at Vashim Tang, Hungpung.

The event witnessed the participation of around 100 active BJP members from three mandals, Chingai 45-AC, Ukhrul 44-AC, and Kamjong 43-AC. The Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul also joined the celebration, which included a yoga session and a tree plantation drive, during which approximately 100 seedlings of various species were planted.

Speaking at the occasion, Preshow A. Shimray, Spokesperson of BJP Manipur Pradesh, and former Deputy Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly spoke on the developmental initiatives undertaken by the BJP-led government in Manipur’s hill districts. He reaffirmed the party’s commitment to restoring peace and normalcy in the state. Preshow Shimray also emphasised the importance of conserving forests, protecting the environment, and safeguarding biodiversity, including both plant and animal life, as essential to sustainable living.

Deputy Commissioner Asish Das expressed heartfelt appreciation to the BJP for organising the program. He remarked that while people often have high expectations from the government, meaningful progress can only be achieved through active public participation.
