UKHRUL: Deputy Chief Minister of Manipur Losii Dikho on Saturday said that individual disputes should never be allowed to escalate into communal violence and called upon the youth to reject violence and contribute constructively to social stability across the state.
Addressing a large gathering of students, athletes and community members at the closing ceremony of the 17th Motbung Veng Tournament 2026, held at LS Playground in Motbung, a Thadou-inhabited area of Kangpokpi district, Dikho underscored the importance of peace and unity for Manipur’s progress.
Stating that youth are the pillars of the future, the Deputy Chief Minister urged young people to remain disciplined, dedicated and resilient in all walks of life. He said the role of youth is critical in shaping a better society and called on them to uphold values that promote harmony and development.
Dikho also referred to his earlier visit to Ngulhao Theological Seminary, noting that such institutions play an important role in nurturing future leaders. He emphasised that education, alongside sports, is essential in building strong character and fostering unity among the youth.
Highlighting the importance of peace, the Deputy Chief Minister said that development initiatives—including the proposed construction of a playground, sports gallery and related facilities submitted through a memorandum—can only be realised in a peaceful environment.

“We need peace and love, and without peace, we cannot bring development,” Dikho said, recalling the Kuki–Naga crisis of the past. He noted that even during the height of the conflict, the people of Motbung took the initiative to foster peace between the two communities.
Expressing optimism, Dikho said the Thadou community, known for being peace-loving, would play a positive role in restoring harmony in the state. He voiced confidence in their ability to contribute to reconciliation and stability across Manipur.
Prior to the event, the Deputy Chief Minister visited Compassion Children Home and Ngulhao Theological Seminary, where he interacted with Bible college students and local residents, reflecting his continued engagement with educational and social institutions in the area.
