The North Khasi Hills District Unit of the Khasi Students’ Union felicitated Wanlambok Rani (16 years old) on Wednesday with a memento and a certificate of appreciation for rescuing and saving four precious lives from drowning in Umiam River.

Without any fear for his own life, Rani rescued a mother, Rili Marbaniang and her 3 kids from drowning on August 12, 2020 – after struggling hard he finally managed to pull them from the river.

“The valour and bravery of Wanlambok must be appreciated and rewarded by the state government, especially to encourage him and others who have shown such brave acts in their life, which is also a moral example to each and every citizen of the state and country”, said the Vice President of KSU-Central Body, Biangbor Paliar during the programme organized at the community hall of Umden Arka under Bhoirymbong C&RD Block, which is also where Wanlambok Rani is from.
