Kidney dialysis centre made operational at District Hospital, Ukhrul

Ukhrul: In what was a positive development for the populace of Ukhrul district, “Kidney Dialysis Centre” at district hospital, Ukhrul was successfully opened and made operational on Monday.

Opened in a simple function held at its centre, 50-years old male patient from Viewland zone III in Ukhrul became the first patient to successfully underwent treatment procedure from this Centre.

Dr. Reisang Raikhan, chief medical officer, district hospital, Ukhrul told the Ukhrul Times that following a breakthrough in opening dialysis centre at the district headquarters, patients from Ukhrul district who are undergoing “kidney dialysis” at JNIMS, RIMS and other muti-speciality centres in state capital Imphal can now avail services at the newly opened dialysis centre.

The centre will also lessen the hardships being faced by such patients by commuting all the way to Imphal for such dialysis procedures. “Patients will now save both their time and money,” he emphasized.

He continued that treatment will be done “free of cost” for all patients belonging to low income group, that is, patients classified under below poverty line (BPL) or those patients who are CMHT or PMJAY Health Card holders.

This is the first and only such facility available in the district.

Kidney Dialysis Centre at district hospital, Ukhrul is initiated under the Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis Programme.
