KLA–L Slams Endorsement of Th. Muivah, Seeks Clarification from Kuki Innpi Manipur

Ukhrul, October 30: The Kuki Liberation Army–Letkholun (KLA–L) has come down strongly on what it called a “disturbing development” following the reported endorsement of NSCN–IM leader Th. Muivah by a group claiming to represent the Kuki people.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Jalaimang Kuki, Secretary of Information and Publicity of the group, recalled the atrocities committed against Kuki civilians, including women and children, during the 1992–93 ethnic clashes, and termed them “a grave affront to human dignity.”

The KLA–L said that any form of endorsement of those responsible for such acts was unacceptable and called on Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) to issue a clear clarification on the role of its affiliate, Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills, in the matter.

“It is imperative that KIM makes its stand clear, as its credibility and legitimacy as a representative body of the Kuki people are at stake,” the release stated.

The group further said the incident had brought “shame and dishonour” to the Kuki people and urged those involved to offer an unconditional apology and make amends without delay.

Reiterating that justice and accountability must prevail, the KLA–L asserted that “anything less would betray the values of the Kuki people and amount to tacit approval of past atrocities.”
