Kohima DC clarifies misinformation regarding mandatory flag hoisting

Kohima: The deputy commissioner of Kohima, Shanavas C, in a notice today, stated that there has been some misinformation spreading in certain sections of the population in and around the Nagaland state capital and in Kohima district regarding distribution of the national flag of India saying that that directions have been given for mandatory hoisting of the Tricolour in individual households, shops, etc in view of the Government of India’s “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign.

In this connection, the deputy commissioner has clarified and reiterated the statement made during the meetings held with regard to “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign with various government agencies and other stakeholders recently that the purchase and hoisting of the national flag of India is purely voluntary and not mandatory. “However, an appeal has been made to all citizens to participate in the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign for its successful implementation,” he added.

The deputy commissioner has, therefore, informed all concerned that any further clarification in this regard may be sought from the office of the deputy commissioner of Kohima.
