Kohima Excise Seizes Rs 9.66 Crore Worth Heroin at Khuzama Check Gate

Ukhrul, Sept 29: In a major drug bust, Kohima Excise officials intercepted an Assam-registered vehicle (No. AS-03-3808) at the Khuzama inter-state check gate around 8:30 AM. A thorough search revealed 161 soap cases containing approximately 1.6 kg of heroin, with an estimated street value of Rs. 9.66 crore, concealed in a secret chamber at the rear of the vehicle.

As per the deputy commission Excise (Zonal) Kohima, a lone occupant of the vehicle, identified as K.H. Pavei, son of Khule from Phaibung Khullen, Senapati, was apprehended at the scene. A case has been registered against him under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act of 1985.

The operation, according to the officials, was led by Excise officials including Kezhasolie AIE, along with his team comprising Khesangmew AIE, Khrovotso H/c, Nganwang E/c, Rokovikho E/c, Kevibuo E/c, Mhao Lotha E/c, Nyimtsemo E/c, and Rose L/c.
