Koireng people approach Guv regarding acute shortage of food and essential items

Imphal: A team of Koireng youth organisation led by RN Boipu Koireng along with 5 members called on governor Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan on Thursday and appealed to take steps for the safety and security of Koireng community amid the ongoing strife in Manipur.

The team apprised the governor about their apprehension, hardships and suffering caused by the conflict between Meitei and Kuki-Zo people. They said, of the total 10 villages spotted in Kangpokpi, Churachandpur and Imphal West districts, almost all have been affected and there have been acute shortages of essential commodities and food items. The team urged the governor to take steps to protect and extend help to them.

After listening to their grievances, the governor assured them that she would talk to DGP, Manipur to take appropriate security measures to ensure them a secured environment. She also asked the team to approach to the concerned deputy commissioner for their requirements.
