Ukhrul: Deputy commissioner, Ukhrul, Krishna Kumar launched District Hill Leader’s Day and Meeyamgi Numit held across the state at DRDA Hall, Mini Secretariat complex, Ukhrul on Monday.
The occasion was attended by District Level Officers (DLOs) of various line departments under Ukhrul district, village chiefs, and general public.
Highlighting the core objectives of launching the District Hill Leader’s Day and Meeyamgi Numi, Khrishna Kumar, DC Ukhrul maintained that it was initiated with the sole intent to make the government, citizen-centric, proactive and to bring about efficiency, and transparency in the implementation of various welfare programmes of the state government.
He further apprised that every 3rd Friday of the month will be earmarked for the day. In case if the 3rd Friday happens to be a general or public holiday, then the next working day will be organised as District Hill Leader’s Day and Meeyamgi Numit.

A dedicated Meeyamgi Numit Cell has also been constituted to ensure better co-ordination among the officials of various departments and for speedy redressal of the grievances of the general public.
As many as 35 written applications were received with grievances related to old age pension, health card, agriculture, and veterinary related issues.
On the other hand, 5 e-Shram, 13 PMJAY and 4 CMHT cards were also distributed to the identified beneficiaries during the programme, while around 25 persons had undergone preventive health check-up under ‘Chief Minister’s Health for All’ scheme.
Meanwhile, a press note issued by the DC Ukhrul on Monday evening mentioned that district Hill Leader’s Day and Meeyamgi Numit in respect of Ukhrul district was held in Ukhrul headquarters Monday in pursuance of the decision taken by the state cabinet on May 18, 2022 and letter no. PLG1-401/1/2022-PLG-Planning dated June 20, 2022 issued by the Planning department, government of Manipur for reactivation and launching of District Hill Leader’s Day and Meeyamgi Numit.
