SHILLONG (SHABD): The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) has sought time-bound action from the Meghalaya government on its demands concerning recruitment policies, reservation and employment opportunities for indigenous candidates at NEIGRIHMS.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday after submitting a representation to chief minister Conrad K Sangma, KSU publicity secretary Pynshai Kupar Dkhar said the union had called for a review of the 20:80 male-to-female ratio in nursing officer recruitment, restoration of the upper age limit of 35 years for relevant posts, and the introduction of offline, OMR-based examinations.
The union has also demanded a review of reservation rosters and backlog vacancies, Dkhar said.
He said the KSU had urged NEIGRIHMS director Prof Nalin Mehta to defer decisions on the disputed recruitment issues at the proposed Governing Council meeting until the union’s concerns were addressed.
Dkhar further said Mehta should consider resigning on moral and administrative grounds if he was unable to address the union’s demands.
