Kuki Groups Apologize for Vandalism of Th. Muivah Poster; MoU Signed

SENAPATI, NOV 16: The incident that occurred on October 29 and 30 at Daili village—where posters were vandalised, communal slogans were shouted, and a large firecracker was detonated, causing panic among residents of nearby localities—has finally been resolved amicably after the Naga People’s Organization (NPO), Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills, and the Kuki Chief Association signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on November 15.

The MoU stated:
“On this day, the 15th of November, 2025, with regard to the repeated incidents that occurred on the 29th and 30th of October, 2025, wherein certain Kuki miscreants at Daili village shouted the slogans ‘We want Kuki Land’ and ‘We demand Kuki Land,’ vandalised the poster of Eno. Th. Muivah, Hon’ble Ato Kilonser of the GPRN, and detonated a large firecracker causing panic among the residents of the surrounding localities, on a day declared as Genna by the UNC in observance of the Historic Civic Reception at Senapati—the Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills and the Kuki Chief Association have taken full responsibility for the incident and have tendered a sincere apology to the NPO.

After accepting the apology of the Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills and the Kuki Chief Association (SAHILCA), the NPO and the Kuki bodies have reached an understanding and hereby consider the matter settled, subject to the following conditions:

  1. The Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills and the Kuki Chief Association (SAHILCA) shall instruct and ensure strict control over the Kuki community in Kangpokpi District to prevent any unwanted incidents within their jurisdiction.
  2. Shouting of any communal slogans in any manner shall not be tolerated.
  3. Loitering along the highway during late hours, especially near Naga villages, shall be strictly controlled.
  4. The Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills and the Kuki Chief Association (SAHILCA) shall take full responsibility for any similar unwanted incidents if repeated in the future within their jurisdiction.”

The statement concluded that all signatories endorsed the document in sound health and mind.

Signatories included M. John Thangal, General Secretary, NPO; A. Adakho, Vice President, NPO; P. M. Suingam, Assistant General Secretary, NPO; Haokholen Kipgen, President, SAHILCA; and Thangkhomang Chongloi, Vice President, Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills.
