According to sources, the incident began after a passenger was suspected of taking photographs of a Kuki militant camp stationed in Molnom. Armed Kuki militants, seen in a footage that has gone viral, allegedly halted the bus, seized passengers’ phones, and inspected them for evidence of images or videos.
The devices were later returned when no such material was found, sources said. However, the militants reportedly remained suspicious that footage had been secretly recorded.
It may be mentioned that two innocent victims, Thotreichan Kashung and Naosomi Lungleng of Sinakeithei village went missing on August 4, 2021. Their highly decomposed dead bodies were found on the river banks of Ihang at around 3 pm on August 8, a case of brutal murder. The Tangkhul Civil Societies led by Tangkhul Naga Long has vehemently condemned the brutal murder.
