“We tender our deepest apology to the bereaved family, our community, and the public at large for the pain and suffering caused,” the statement read.

The KRA clarified that the crime was carried out without the knowledge or sanction of its leadership, stressing that the cadres acted on their own “in sheer emotional impulse.”

Per the outfit, the five cadres suspended with immediate effect are: Samson Kuki, Jangpu Hangsing, Mangneo Stilhou, Kakap Lenthang, Thangmoi Hmar.

The outfit assured full cooperation with law enforcement agencies and the district administration to ensure that justice is served. It also acknowledged that the incident had raised serious concerns about organizational discipline and accountability. An internal review will be conducted to identify shortcomings and strengthen preventive measures against such recurrences.
