Landslide blocks Imphal-Jiri NH-37 in Manipur

Imphal: A massive landslide has blocked NH-37, snapping the road link between Imphal and Jiribam (Assam-Manipur border) on Wednesday.

Owing to the landslide, hundreds of vehicles including passenger service vehicles and loaded trucks are stranded on both sides of the highway, reports said.

The massive landslide triggered by heavy rainfall in the last few days occurred at a place between Senam and Kotlen in Noney district around 8 am today.

Authorities swung into action to clear the road. However, the road is yet to be re-opened till the time of filing this report.

Meanwhile, authorities have issued advisory to vehicles to use the Old Cachar (Tongjei Maril) to reach Noney district headquarters for the time being.
