Tamenglong: Thoubenliu Kalengta, a Liangmai Naga student from Tamenglong district who excelled in the recently declared Class 12 exam results by securing 95 marks in the Liangmai language subject conducted by COHSEM, unfortunately lost her life in a tragic road mishap after she appear the exam.
Thoubenliu was killed in a fatal road accident on April 11 while returning from a football tournament with her team members. The tournament was organized by the Liangmai Baptist Youth Society, Imphal, at Game Village in Imphal West. During the accident, other team members traveling in the same vehicle also sustained injuries and are currently undergoing treatment at different hospitals in Imphal.
Thoubenliu, who studied at Olivia Higher Secondary School, Kanglatongbi in Imphal West, was a resident of Lenglong (Rianglong) village under the Tamei sub-division, Tamenglong district.
In a posthumous congratulatory note, the Liangmai Naga Students’ Union, Manipur (LNKRM), stated that despite the untimely loss, Thoubenliu Kalengta’s achievement of securing the highest marks in Liangmai (MIL) is a testament to her hard work and dedication. “May her memories continue to inspire us all to strive for excellence in everything we do,” added the student body, sharing their heartfelt condolences with the bereaved family and friends.
